Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of MechSure. By creating an account, submitting a review, or purchasing a service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The service
MechSure provides a document-based second opinion about automotive repair estimates, final invoices, inspection reports, photographs, and related information you submit. A review may discuss charges, labor time, parts, possible overlap, repair priorities, and questions to ask a repair facility. MechSure does not take possession of, physically inspect, test, diagnose, maintain, or repair your vehicle.
2. Information and review limitations
Every review is limited to the documents, photographs, measurements, descriptions, and other information available to us. That information may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or supplied by a third-party repair facility. Labels such as “Plan soon” or “Can wait / Monitor” are not warranties that a vehicle is safe to drive or that a repair can be postponed for a specific distance or period.
3. Safety and emergencies
MechSure is not an emergency or roadside service, and a document review is not a substitute for an in-person safety inspection. Stop driving when appropriate and promptly seek qualified in-person assistance if you notice a safety warning, a material change in braking or steering, overheating, smoke, a fuel odor, significant fluid loss, severe noise or vibration, reduced visibility, or another condition that may affect safe operation. You remain responsible for deciding whether and when to operate the vehicle.
4. No guarantee or shop affiliation
We aim to provide careful, independent educational guidance, but we do not guarantee that a review will identify every issue, predict the final repair cost, confirm a diagnosis, establish the quality or origin of a part, or prevent a breakdown or accident. Unless expressly stated, MechSure is not affiliated with and does not endorse the repair facility, parts seller, manufacturer, or information provider referenced in a review.
5. Your responsibilities
You must be at least 18 years old and authorized to submit the materials you upload. You agree to provide accurate information, review the completed report, ask the repair facility about uncertainties, and obtain an in-person diagnosis or inspection when appropriate. Do not upload full payment-card numbers, Social Security numbers, passwords, or information you are not authorized to share.
6. Uploaded materials
You retain ownership of your materials. You grant MechSure a limited license to receive, copy, process, analyze, store, and display them as needed to provide, secure, support, and improve the requested service. We may retain records for account history, backup, fraud prevention, security, and legal compliance, subject to our applicable privacy practices.
7. Automated assistance
MechSure may use automated systems, including artificial intelligence, to extract information and help draft reports. Automated output can be incomplete or incorrect and does not replace the reviewing mechanic’s judgment or an in-person vehicle inspection. A human reviewer remains responsible for approving the customer-facing report when the service states that human approval is included.
8. Fees, timing, cancellations, and refunds
Prices, optional rush fees, and estimated turnaround times are shown before purchase. You may request cancellation before substantive review work begins. After work begins or a report is delivered, fees are generally nonrefundable except where required by law or where MechSure fails to provide the purchased service. If MechSure cannot meet a paid rush commitment, the rush fee will be refunded; the underlying review fee remains subject to these terms.
9. Email and text messages
We may send service-related email about your submission. If you separately consent to text messages, message and data rates may apply. Consent to texts is not required to purchase. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help. Opting out of texts does not prevent necessary service email or account notices.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, noninfringement, or uninterrupted availability. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MechSure will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, lost profits, loss of use, or vehicle damage arising from reliance on the service. MechSure’s total liability for a claim relating to a particular paid review will not exceed the amount you paid for that review. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law and do not waive rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
12. Accounts and access
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in method secure. We may restrict or terminate access for misuse, fraud, interference with the service, unlawful conduct, or material violation of these Terms.
13. Washington law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Washington law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before filing a claim, you and MechSure agree to make a good-faith effort to resolve the issue directly. Nothing in this section prevents either party from using small-claims court where eligible or exercising a nonwaivable legal right.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the service changes. The effective date identifies the version that applies. Material changes will be presented through the service when required. Continued use after an effective update constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
